Every morning at Strut the rooster's first waking crow, Jake the duck would make his way to the pond in the middle of Puddle Town.

' He spent the day slowly swimming around the pond greeting all the Puddle Town folk, with a jovial Quack! Quack!

' The folk of Puddle Town enjoyed their walks past the pond, watching Jake's antics as he swam round the pond, diving every now and then to try and catch a fish.

' One morning Princess the bear and Oinker the pig were walking by the pond and noticed it was empty. Soon there was a crowd of Puddle Town folk gathered round the pond. Where was Jake?

' Suddenly with a loud QUACK! Jake came dashing down the road, landing in the pond with a very undignified splash.... Jake was LATE!

' "Where have you been Jake?" asked Princess once he had settled onto the pond. "We were all worried about you."

' "Quack" Said Jake. "Nobody told me Strut was going away for the day to visit his cousin Hennie in the country, without him to wake me up, I overslept and now I'm late... quack!"

' "Never mind Jake" said Oinker. "As Hootie the Owl always says. "Better Late than Never."

' The next morning Strut was back from his trip, and woke Jake as normal. Jake was just leaving his house to make his way to the pond, when he noticed a package on his doorstep. He opened the package to find a brand new shiny alarm clock, with a note attached saying...

'From all your Puddle Town Friends, so you will never be LATE
